The Warrior girls' soccer team's offensive struggles continued as they were dealt a 5-0 setback by Detroit Lakes yesterday. "We played better tonight than in the past few games but were just not able to put one in the net," said coach Nikki Harmer.

Aitkin County Judge Robert Graff has stayed the 90-day sentence of a McGregor farmer who had failed once again to enroll his two children in school. The man, who had said he "was waiting for word from God," has now enrolled his son, and his daughter will start next week.

60 years ago (1957)

The Pillager Huskies football team, which last week broke a string of 38 straight losses over four years with a 15-13 win over tough Onamia, has a winning streak going. They followed up this week with a 35-13 romp over McGrath.

80 years ago (1937)

State and local law officers continued their investigation into a shooting fray on the bank of the Mississippi west of the Merrifield road bridge. A 42-year-old Northeast Brainerd man was shot through the arm by his wife, who apparently was trying to kill him.

100 years ago (1917)

Brainerd banks, city officials and township officers were represented at Crosby yesterday for a meeting of the Liberty Loan Bond Campaign. It was an enthusiastic gathering of nearly a hundred, the purpose of which is to encourage individuals to buy bonds to finance the war in
