Brainerd Improvement, Inc., voted to proceed with blacktopping of the parking lot they are leasing from BN Railroad. It lies on the north side of Front Street between 6th and 8th Streets. Businesses will lease parking stalls for employees in an attempt to free up customer parking downtown.

The county fair may be held for the last time this year at its present site on Mill Avenue, across from the Northwest Paper mill. If the company decides to use the current site, the fair and its buildings will be moved to a new location on Hwy 218 just south of Brainerd.

Three Brainerd horseshoe pitchers broke all season records when they combined to make 134 ringers in a three-handed match. Hauge threw 57 ringers out of 94 shoes pitched, Engbretson tossed 39 ringers and Osborne managed 38 ringers.

North Broadway (8th St.) residents are aroused by autos appreciating the new pavement there by speeding at 35 mph over the thoroughfare. Citizens are determined to put a stop to the fast driving before someone gets killed.
