Charles Albion Witham

Charles Albion Witham

Born April 1924 to Carl and Pearl (Bezanson) Witham in Minneapolis. Graduated high school and entered the Army in 1943. Served during WWII with the 17th Infantry/12th Armored Division and US Army Reserves from 1943-1949. Chuck received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Chuck attended New Mexico State University where he graduated in 1951 and 1953. He taught school for two years in New Mexico and moved back to Minnesota in 1954 to work for Sears, Roebuck and Company, from which he retired in 1986. In 1955 he met and married Joan Matzke. He was a life member of MOPH, VFW, NRA, A.L. and the 12th Armored Assn.

Survivors include his wife, Joan, a son, Keith Witham, a daughter and son-in-law, Georgiann and Sal Camacho, grandchildren, Michael and Rachel (Buck) Bratager, and many nieces and nephews. Burial at MN State Veteran's Cemetery, Little Falls, Minnesota.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21st at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Chaplin Gary Brink officiating. Visitation will begin the hour prior to services. Military Honors will be provided by Brainerd American Legion and V.F.W. Color Guard.
