Men's College Hockey: McLain joins Bowling Green 100-point club
MARQUETTE, Mich.—After senior captain Mitch McLain forced overtime with 8.9 seconds left in regulation, the Bowling Green State University Falcons lost to Northern Michigan University 3-2 in Game Three of the WCHA Semifinals after 15:53 of extra play Sunday.
The goal was McLain's team-leading 18th of the season.
The senior from Baxter recorded a multi-point night Sunday, his seventh of the season, and 20th of his career.
With an assist on the other Bowling Green goal Sunday, McLain became the 71st Falcon in program history to notch 100 career points. With his overtime-forcing goal, McLain posted 101 points in his four years with the program.
In Game Two Saturday, the Falcons registered a 1-0 victory over NMU to extend the series. McLain had a team-high four shots on net. Bowling Green lost Game One 6-1 Friday.
The Falcons, who finished 23-12-6 overall, 17-6-5-2 in the WCHA, recorded four straight 20-win seasons and 89 total wins during McLain's career.
